Q1: What motivated you to study abroad in China? Also, why did you choose Gengdan Institute?

A: I aim to systematically enhance my Chinese language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing to better contribute to international communication in the future. Gengdan Institute enjoys an outstanding global reputation for its teaching. Its curriculum is scientifically designed, emphasizing the integration of theory and practice, and offers a wealth of cultural activities. Thorough research, I discovered that the learning environment here is exceptionally suited for international students, enabling immersive language developmentwhich is why I choose to study here.

Q2: What were your first impressions of the campus and fellow students when you first arrived?

A: Everyone on campus has been exceptionally friendly. Whether classmates in class or faculty members encountered around campus, they all greet me and engage in conversation. Whenever I face difficulties, people readily offer assistance. This genuine kindness makes me feel especially welcome in an unfamiliar environment. Q3: Since arriving at the university, have any particular activities, events, or individuals left a lasting impression on you? Could you share why they stand out?

A: I've formed close friendships with several Chinese classmates. We often attend classes together, discuss assignments, and participate in various campus activities after class. Through our interactions, I've not only improved my Chinese language skills but also gained deeper insights into traditional Chinese culture and daily customs. We shared cultural highlights from our respective countries. This cross-cultural friendship broadened my horizons and enriched my study abroad experience. These precious friendships will remain unforgettable memories in my life.

Q4: Compared to your home university, what are the most noticeable differences between Chinese classmates and students there, as well as between Chinese teachers/professors and teachers/professors there?

A: Whether in terms of the learning atmosphere or teacher-student interaction, I haven't noticed any significant differences compared to my home university. This made adapting to life here quite easy. Teachers place great emphasis on communication with students, encouraging active questioning and sharing of opinions in class. Classmates also help each other and progress together. This positive learning environment allows me to fully immerse myself in my studies. I quickly integrated into the new environment and didn't feel any discomfort.

Q5: During your time at Gengdan Institute, have you encountered any issues that caused you distress, concern, or difficulty adapting? If so, were they resolved? How?

A: When I first arrived in China, getting a mobile phone number was indeed challenging. Due to the language barrier, I wasn't clear on the process or required documents, which led to several trips to the service center without success. Later, my Chinese classmate learned about this and volunteered to accompany me. They helped translate during communication and explained my situation in detail to the staff, ultimately helping me successfully get a phone number. This experience made me feel the warmth of friendship and taught me the importance of actively seeking help when facing problems. 、

Q6: Would you consider returning to China in the future to continue your studies, or even to work and live here? Why?

A: I would definitely consider staying long-term to study and live here. China possesses a unique cultural charm, and I yearn for more time to experience the customs and traditions of different regions, gaining a deeper understanding of its history and culture. Simultaneously, the quality of education and development opportunities here are highly appealing. I believe I can achieve my academic goals and professional aspirations here. Moreover, I have adapted to life here and made many good friends, so I am very much looking forward to long-term development here.

Q7: How do you think this study abroad experience in China will help or influence your future?

A: Studying abroad completely freed me from dependence on others, teaching me to independently plan my life. From managing personal finances and organizing study schedules to handling unexpected situations, my self-reliance has been greatly strengthened. When facing language barriers and cultural differences, I gradually mastered flexible problem-solving methods. This growth has made me more mature and confident. Today, I proactively embrace challenges and communicate with greater warmth and persuasiveness. These transformations will profoundly shape my future path.
